What is general anesthesia and intravenous sedation?
General anesthesia and intravenous sedation are anesthetic management techniques, which utilize inhalation and IV medications to create states of unconscious and sleep, unawareness and relaxation.  The apprehensive patient is sedated and relaxed, or asleep for needed dental treatment.

Will I know what is going on?
With the use of the intravenous anesthetic agents, fear, memory and the recollection of the procedures is usually absent.

How is the anesthesia monitored in the office?
Patients are monitored using the most modern equipment, the same as found in operating rooms and ICUs.  Our anesthesia team includes assistants which have completed the AAOMS Anesthesia Assistants Program.  All aspects of vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, EKG, pulse oximetry, breathing, capnography and temperature are continuously monitored.  Emergency drugs and medical equipment are immediately available if they should become necessary.  Due to new anesthetics available, safety is enhanced and recovery time is reduced.  Each anesthesia or sedation is tailored to your specific needs, always keeping your safety in mind.
